Carilion’s Camp Too Sweet

Lion Bud and I had meeting this morning with Carilion staff about Camp Too Sweet .  The camp dates are June 16-20 at Camp Roanoke.  Carilion staff have been meeting and working with Camp Roanoke staff to arrange the camp for 2008.  A lot of changes in the day-to-day structure of Camp Too Sweet are in the works.  This year financial support for the campers and some of the camp activities will be needed in order for the camp to be a success.  While the scholarship amount for a week-long residential camper will be $300.00 this year, any monies which clubs can contribute will be put to good use to help young people with diabetes.  Last year's efforts by the Lions Clubs of District 24-E helped the 2007 edition of Camp Too Sweet to be successful.  In 2007 we had 15 clubs in District 24-E who donated a total of $7,595.00.  I hope that for 2008 we can have more clubs participating with the financial needs of Camp Too Sweet.  In 2007 we had a total of 39 campers and this year the goal is 65.  As I get more information about CTS, I will let you know.
